Tata Sierra EV Set to Launch on June 30 — India’s Most Anticipated Electric SUV of 2026

India’s electric vehicle calendar just got a blockbuster finale for June. Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the production-specification Sierra EV will make its market debut on June 30, 2026 — a date that EV enthusiasts and auto analysts have been circling on their calendars for months. The Sierra EV is not just another electric vehicle launch; it represents the culmination of years of anticipation, starting from the concept first showcased at Auto Expo 2020 and revisited at Auto Expo 2023, finally reaching showroom-ready status.

The Sierra EV’s boxy retro silhouette with blanked-off grille and EV badging pays tribute to the original 1990s Sierra.

Built on Tata’s dedicated acti.ev+ architecture — the same platform that underpins the award-winning Harrier EV — the Sierra EV is expected to offer two battery pack options: a 65 kWh variant with rear-wheel drive and a 75 kWh top-spec variant that pairs with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor setup, which Tata dubs its “QWD” system. If confirmed, this makes the Sierra EV the only AWD electric SUV in its mid-size segment, a significant competitive differentiator against the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Maruti e Vitara.

Design-wise, the Sierra EV retains the bold, boxy silhouette of its ICE sibling — a deliberate tribute to the iconic original Sierra of the 1990s — while incorporating EV-specific elements such as a body-coloured blanked-off grille, revised front bumper, and prominent Sierra.EV badging at the rear. The wraparound glass roof and connected LED tail lamps are signature design touches that make the car instantly recognisable.

The cabin is expected to feature a class-leading triple-screen setup with dual 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and front passenger screen, flanked by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Creature comforts on higher variants are set to include a 12-speaker JBL Dolby Atmos sound system, panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a head-up display. Pricing is expected to range between ₹18 lakh and ₹25 lakh, positioning it neatly between the Curvv EV and the Harrier EV in Tata’s growing EV portfolio.
