Mahindra Sells 10,000 Units of XEV 9e and BE 6 in Just 70 Days: A New Milestone for Indian EVs

Launched in November 2024, deliveries commenced March 2025

Mahindra is making serious waves in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) space, and the numbers speak for themselves. In a remarkable feat, the homegrown automaker has announced that it has sold over 10,000 units of its all-new electric SUVs – the XEV 9e and BE 6 – within just 70 days of deliveries beginning in March 2025.

First unveiled in November 2024, the XEV 9e and BE 6 represent Mahindra’s next-gen EV ambitions under its “Born Electric” architecture. Designed from the ground up as EVs—not ICE conversions—both models bring cutting-edge technology, standout design, and premium features to Indian roads.

Dual Battery Options and Class-Leading Range

Both models share a nearly identical specification sheet and are offered with two battery pack configurations:

  • 59kWh standard battery
  • 79kWh long-range battery

With the larger pack, these electric SUVs offer an impressive range of up to 683 km (ARAI-certified), easing range anxiety for long-distance commuters and EV first-timers alike.

Currently, both the XEV 9e and BE 6 come with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout, but Mahindra has confirmed that all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants are in development, likely to debut later this year to compete with rivals such as the newly launched Tata Harrier EV.

Packed with Tech and Luxury

Mahindra has spared no effort in delivering a truly premium experience with both these models. Some of the highlight features include:

  • Auto Park Assist for hands-free parking
  • Panoramic glass roof with ambient illumination
  • Dual 12.3-inch high-definition screens for infotainment and instrument cluster
  • Ventilated front seats and powered driver’s seat for added comfort
  • 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system
  • Auto-dimming IRVM, powered tailgate, and dual-zone climate control
  • Advanced connected car tech with OTA updates and remote vehicle management

The interior design across both models has been applauded for its ultra-premium materials, modern aesthetic, and intuitive layout.

A Growing EV Portfolio

With the addition of the XEV 9e and BE 6, Mahindra now offers three electric vehicles in India:

  • XUV400 – Based on the ICE XUV300, this was Mahindra’s first mainstream EV
  • BE 6 – A sleek, coupe-styled SUV that leans towards sporty, urban des
  • XEV 9e – A larger, more versatile family SUV that balances performance and practicality

While the XUV400 remains a popular choice in the subcompact SUV space, the BE 6 and XEV 9e are a clear leap forward, both in terms of platform and capabilities.

The Road Ahead

Mahindra’s early success with the XEV 9e and BE 6 underscores growing consumer confidence in Indian EVs and highlights the brand’s bold move into the electric future. As infrastructure improves and competition heats up with players like Tata, Hyundai, and MG in the mix, Mahindra’s commitment to a “Born Electric” vision is likely to play a central role in shaping the country’s EV adoption trajectory.

With AWD variants, expanded service networks, and further launches under the BE banner expected soon, Mahindra looks well-poised to lead India’s homegrown EV revolution.
