Taiwan’s Bicycle Vision Revs Up Eurobike 2025

Taiwan’s bicycle industry formally launched its Eurobike 2025 presence today with the Taiwan Product Launch & Image Taiwan Event, which attracted high levels of media and industry interest. Hosted by the International Trade Administration of Taiwan (TITA) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the press conference highlighted six of the leading Taiwanese companies introducing their new developments in e-mobility, digital integration, and green cycling solutions. This event not only marked the beginning of Taiwan’s showcase at the world’s leading bicycle trade show but also reaffirmed its strategic position as a global innovation hub for next-generation cycling technologies.

In addition to product showcases, the event also highlighted Taiwan’s unique collaboration between the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA), the Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS), and the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC), which jointly work to drive sustainability and low-carbon innovation forward. These organizations collectively form a national ecosystem for bicycle advancement, enabling Taiwan to remain highly adaptive to market trends such as electrification, circular production models, and integrated smart mobility.

Opening the press conference, Joe Chou, Executive Vice President of TAITRA, highlighted positive market signals for Taiwan’s bicycle industry. “Taiwan’s bicycle industry is showing signs of recovery. In the first quarter of this year, both e-bike and component exports grew, indicating a clear shift toward high-value, premium products,” he said. This market trend is in line with global consumer preferences leaning toward quality, lightweight performance, and digital capabilities in two-wheeled transportation.

Prof. Dr. Jhy-Wey Shieh, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany, followed with remarks on Taiwan’s close economic ties with Europe and its position as a trusted partner for advanced cycling solutions. He emphasized the shared values between Taiwan and Europe in sustainability, green technology, and innovation, underscoring the deepening bilateral cooperation in future mobility development.

Under this year’s theme “Go Healthy with Taiwan – Innovating the Future of Cycling”, six Taiwan Excellence Award or Taipei Cycle d&i Award-winning companies presented their latest product highlights. Merida Industry showcased the eONE-SIXTY SL 10K, a high-performance carbon-frame e-mountain bike powered by a Bosch motor for advanced off-road capability. KMC introduced a new generation of drivetrain technology specifically engineered for precision shifting in e-bikes. Yee Jee Technology demonstrated its GA Tire Sealant, an eco-friendly solution derived from pineapple leaves offering a low-carbon alternative in tire protection. Hyena highlighted its cloud-based E-Bike Digi-Ecosystem platform, offering real-time data integration for manufacturers and riders alike, while HaoTing Technology unveiled the BIKNIKS concept – a compact e-scooter with integrated picnic storage and portable power features for flexible urban mobility. Finally, Smiling Elements International presented the Unimoke MK, a modular e-bike combining retro design with modern functionality for urban and leisure use.

The press conference also introduced insights from the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA), the Bicycling Alliance for Sustainability (BAS), and the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center (CHC), outlining how Taiwan’s cycling sector has uniquely come together to develop a structured approach to advancing ESG goals and low-carbon development. Their collaboration brings together public institutions, research bodies, industry partners, and the wider cycling community – uniting central government, local agencies, businesses, and everyday riders in a shared commitment to sustainability.

The whole approach is constituted as a force for powerful innovation, with combined efforts devoted to the minimization of carbon emissions in both production and consumption, together with enhanced bicycle testing, research and development, and talent development. As Taiwan continues to make investments in high-efficiency manufacturing, green materials, and digitally enabled mobility ecosystems, the scope and arrangement of such cooperation remain uniquely global—solidifying Taiwan’s status not just as a leading bicycle exporter, but as an innovator in sustainable, future-oriented mobility solutions.
